a bush blessing

Last week Ron & I went back to the bush. One of our favorite places to go. It is very rural and herding animals or planting crops is 'bout all you see.

This time we get to be part of a celebration for one of the
Community Health Evangelism projects. They have built a chicken house and have begun raising chickens as a small
business.

One of the members of a local CHE group is proudly feeding the chickens, to get them to gather for everyone to admire. Joseph, one of CMF's trainers for CHE, his daughter Gracie and I were standing in front of the kuku house.

It is in the most basic things of life that many of these people place value and receive joy. Learning new ways to provide food and income for their families is one of them.

Here is most of the group that is working in the community to learn some of these new better living ways, and then they turn around and teach their neighbors. In addition to the physical lessons they share spiritual truths too.

I was honored to get to say a blessing during the day, to ask for favor as they continue to learn and share their work. It was a challenge but I made it through doing it all in Kiswahili. Not everyone understood me, as many only speak the Maasai language, but that is way beyond what I can do.

This beautiful little one is Joseph's grand daughter.

And I am holding the youngest child of James, another of our CMF staff. We had a special day with our friends; seeing their work, praying for them, and of course sharing a roasted goat!
