the dhow

We had the blessing of a short trip to the coast, just Ron & I. Solitude was the name of the game where we went. No internet, no electricity (generator for 5 hours a day), no cars (but ours), no motorboats.

Decided to go out in the traditional boat called a dhow. Yes that is right, we went out on the ocean in that, once the tide came in and once I had taken my 'motion sick' pills :)

Our trip was to a sand bar out in the middle of the water, with trees that are mostly under water when the tide is in. It was magnificent.

The population was gaggles of birds like these greater flamingo.

We also saw crab plover, little egret, and black heron.

Here are some 'marching' yellow-billed storks.

I just sat letting the waves wash over me while I listened to the sounds of nature and soaked in the calm of this place.

We experienced a wonderful quiet, around us and in our souls.

A whole different kind of sabbath --
