Ron the pastor

Ron my husband of 29 years is a dad and grand dad, a brother and a really good friend. He came here to be a carpenter and build facilities at a school, but gets to do so much more. He is the taste tester for the cook, always asked to try something fresh baked. He is the ambulance driver for pregnant mama's. He is a teacher, showing the Tanzanian workers everything from painting to building a picnic table. He is a master flat tyre changer, even in the bush while the truck is balanced on big rocks. He is an avid reader now and a golfer when he gets the chance.

Now he is a pastor or mchungaji in kiswahili.

We had a group of our staff graduate from a 10 week training on environmental issues, and Ron gave the challenge. He talked about how it was now their job to share with in their village what they had learned about caring for environment, to better take care of this world God created for us. Using Mark 12:31 as the charge to love and help our neighbors.

He also had devotions with our staff last Monday, sharing from 1 Corinthians 3:9 how they are to work for the Lord in all that they do each day. It is not about what we do, cutting grass or feeding the cows or shopping for supplies or translating at the school, but about doing it the best we can as God's fellow workers.

Next up, he is going to do the ceremony to marry his daughter in June. That may be the most fun and the most difficult yet-
