I have been asked to take on a specific role on our CMF team in Tanzania, that of HIV/AIDS champion. What that means is still to be developed, but basically I am charged with addressing the HIV/AIDS issues with each group of people that we minister to in Tanzania.
In preparation I am learning as much as I can about the disease, what is going on in Africa, and the current work and resources available. As I learn I will be sharing with you bits and pieces that hopefully will help us all look at this plague of our time.
Nearly 2/3 of all HIV positive people live in sub-Saharan Africa although it contains little more than 10% of the worlds population. AIDS is the leading cause of death in Africa.
