little Amos

Here is the newest member of the CMF staff family, little Amos! At only 4 weeks old he was very alert, smiling and making small contentment sounds. The beginning of life is such a beautiful thing, all around the world! Their home is near the training center so it was a short walk to see this cute little guy. He has an older sister & brother. Their dad works at the center as a driver and grounds keeper.

We are very blessed to have these gentle people as part of our staff. The training center would not be all that it is without our Tz workers. It was a joy to take the expected gifts of a baby blanket & hat, and a kanga for mama. And they shared the usual bottled warm soda's with us

Anodi, the very proud baba (dad) showed us his shamba (garden or farm), 2 cows, 4 rabbits and 15 chickens. As we tromped through his dry fields we talked about me growing up on a farm. He asked, "did Joe your son herd your cows (as african kids do)?" We smiled and said no, my dad took care of them. He had a puzzled look as that is certainly not the Tanzanian way.

This month he is on likizo (vacation) but it is no vacation as we know it. He is taking care of his land, harvesting his beans, so he has much work to do. African's usually take their vacations to do other work.

A wonderful day celebrating life with friends and co-workers.
