We borrowed our friends 'bumble bee' to get us over the Africa like roads to get there. There were 9 of us in a small rustic log home with the comforts of an out house and wood burning stove. Saturday was fishing the mountain stream and sharing time in the sun on the deck and of course a corn hole competition. Dinner was a group effort to prepare fish, potatoes, and salad- yum. Then we laughed our way through half of the night playing Catchphrase. Unfortunately the guys won with FOOD FIGHT. 3 big dogs also shared our space as we juggled into our sleeping arrangements for a few hours.
Sunday's morning sun warmed the cold air as we woke to a ruckus from the dogs encountering a porcupine and a golden retriever's face filled with quills. Yikes! Pliers and patience got most of them pulled out. After breakfast we head out to the falls. The sight and sound and even smell of it was amazing. As we headed back, ideas of a short cut over the stream ended with me toppling backwards into the freezing mountain water. Oh my gosh it was cold. Thankfully just a sore back and wounded pride were the only causalities.

Everyone else had to head home while Ron & I got to stay till Monday. Suddenly all is quiet, I am wrapped in blankets close to the stove to get warm, and calm peaceful tired overtakes me. We nap, and eat, and crawl into bed with gentle rain tapping on the tin roof- ah a reminder of Africa. On the long slow trip home we enjoyed the view and treasured the memories.
