We have finished language school. What a special opportunity we had to meet several families that are beginning their work here in Tanzania and learn along with them the beginnings of a new way to communicate.
After 3 intense weeks learning Swahili vocabulary, grammar, and structure now the real work begins. We have to start talking! Not only do we have new words but we learned much about the way to connect with people here in Africa. How to be respectful and what is meaningful to Tanzanians is as important as what we say.
And we discovered quickly that their laughter and desire to correct us is going to happen all the time so we might as well laugh right along with them and share in the fun. As we move on and are challenged in this new way we continue to be thankful for the journey.
Tumpe Mungu sifa zote!
Let us give God all the praise!

Perhaps a greater and harder lesson for most of us is to learn and laugh as our gracious God corrects us! Too much to ask?
