While we are still in the country we are trying to do a lot of different things with our kids, just for fun. The other night our son, Joe, got tickets to a taping of a live radio show including 2 different artists doing live performances. He asked us to go.
First Ron and I said no. We were not in the mood to be the oldest people in the room listening to music we did not understand or appreciate. You have to know our son and daughter-in-law are both musicians and view music from artists ears. Then, as usual, Joe talks us into it.
The taping was in Boulder, and when we arrived I was pleased to see we were not the oldest, in fact our kids were about the youngest. What surprised me the most was the music. It was unusual, yes, but it was interesting and thoughtful. The group, The Frames, an Irish band not well known in the states, but their music drew you in and I enjoyed the experience. The other performer was not for me, but again the kids did not really like her either.
What a fun time discovering that there is still new music our whole family can enjoy, that I am not too old to go to concerts, that my kids have a lot to share with me, and that they still want to.
