Rabies?

We just finished getting all of our immunizations. Basically you get everything that is available when you are going to live in Africa. Your list is shorter when you come to visit- so don't let this scare you--

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Influenza
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella booster
  • Meningitis
  • Polio booster
  • Rabies (from jackals and mongooses- Yikes!!)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria booster
  • Typhoid
  • Yellow Fever

Then there is the issue of Malaria. I know we need to use spray and mosquito netting at night, but I am also planning to drink papaya leaf tea 2 times a week. A friend who lived in Indonesia avoided getting sick while taking it so I am game.
I feel pretty invincible with all of these antibodies running around in my system. We are mainly relying on protection from above as we move to a country that has many health issues, but I am thankful medicine and research has come this far.

Even after getting 26 shots and 8 pills between the two of us.
