As we talked about a visit and looked at that turkey we were enjoying he said "will I get to try different kinds of food?" Since we have only visited Tanzania once we have only heard stores but I did have a recipe that is a favorite of the Maasai. Jacob listened and said "I am going to try that!"
Goat Roast Maasai-Style
Choose a tender young goat of any color. Suffocate by holding its mouth shut and covering its nostrils. Skin the goat. Clean out its gut. Cut the goat into large sections. Be sure to taste the warm, raw kidney! Cut pieces of the meat into cubes, but leave all the meat on at least one leg.
Put the cubed meat into a big pot with some water. Let it boil until fat covers the surface of the water.
Skewer the leg into a sharpened tree branch (same concept as roasting a hot dog or marshmallows). Jab the empty end of the branch into the ground, leaning the goat leg toward a medium hot fire. Be sure to rotate the branch so that the leg is roasted evenly. Enjoy!
Would you try it?
