Scary Scenes

The scariest thing I could think of about Africa was SNAKES!

Well, there are some other things we have encountered and looking back I can say these times were scary.

We got to take a quick one day trip down country to see how the teams live and work in a remote part of Ethiopia. The 8 seat plane took off from Addis in sunshine but after the 1 1/2 hour trip we were in thick clouds and rain. As the pilot was trying to find the man made airstip in the thick skies he sharply circled the area several times. After sighting the spot we came in fast and started to fish tail in the mud trying to come to a stop. To my right another passenger was getting sick and I found myself holding my breath- this was scary!

But we had a great time visiting the village of mud huts, a rural clinic, a bench filled church, and friendly hard working farming families. And we got alot of ideas about building traditional African homes for the future.

On another day during the usual drive up to the construction site through roads filled with people walking and crossing randomly, the work crew hit a women darting across the busy highway at the last minute. Ron spent the entire day with the driver going from accident site, to the police station, to the hospital. They learned alot about how the legal system works here in East Africa. The woman walked away with minor scrapes and bruises, but Ron said the sound of her hitting the truck- that was scary!

No snakes yet, but God has brought us through and taught us through some scary times so far.

I am so glad that I finally found your blog. Scary might be a strong enough word for your plane trip or for much that you have and will experience.

God has His eyes on you!

If you ever need some encouragement my new blog is available:

Blessings to you, my friends!
